The song "Dream" was originally recorded as a demo by T-Pain on March 12, 2011. It was then passed onto Beyoncé and recorded under the title "Wake Up" in 2013.
In 2017, while working with Pharrell on her fourth studio album, Ariana Grande reworked "Wake Up" into R.E.M, which was included on her album, Sweetener (2018). Grande kept the chorus, but changed the song's lyrics.
